Statement

Theresa Godin’s artwork explores the intricate relationship between ourselves and nature. She seeks experimentation through unlikely combinations of media including oil painting with photo collage, watercolour collage, or elements from the natural world such as dried leaves. The diverse media in her compositions are unified through subject matter that carries seamlessly across these varied surfaces.

Through the playful arrangement of subject matter, it is Theresa’s intention to create thought provoking imagery that echoes narratives from different cultural and subcultural origins. Inspired by the current shifts in society toward the empowerment of groups that have historically been oppressed, her work illuminates themes of hope and interconnectedness within humanity and with our environment.
